  before we started to eat we went around the table saying what we were thankful for.

  It would appear that this particular inmate is a habitual litigant who complains through various channels about every conceivable slight or inconvenience. Whether she is or ever was an actual JW is open to question. She seems to be in perpetual pursuit of some sort of "settlement" or concession over one thing or another.

  I know nothing about this particular person, but there are those who are always trying to get something for nothing. Simply being a JW doesn't rule out being of this sort. Examples abound...

  Not a threat to any government, but definitely a threat to the peace and harmony of any family with a JW in it. And absolutely a threat to any individual JW who dares to question or think outside the box. They will be subjected to the harshest emotional blackmail and social coercion to submit to the Borg.

  At the very least, I think every government in the world should withdraw any and all tax benefits this mind-controlling money grubbing abomination of a religion might be getting. Of course, I don't think governments should grant tax advantages to any religion at all.

  a jehovah's witness has agreed not to show his son religious cartoons and has been banned from taking the six-year-old to some church events because it could cause him "emotional damage".

  the man is embroiled in a family court dispute with his estranged wife and has been barred by a court from taking the little boy to jehovah's witness assemblies, annual conventions and memorials.. district judge malcolm dodds also said that the father had agreed not to show his son "jehovah's witness cartoons", a decision he described as "wise".

  I personally don't think the judge went far enough, but you take what you can get. In my mind, he should have also been barred from letting anyone "study" with the boy. And he should have been prohibited from making any negative references to the boy's mother or any other non-JW persons as "bad," or "worldly," etc.

  (1978)i had been hypnotized the night before and "woke" in the middle of a job interview the following day.it startled me.. the face of my interviewer twigged as well, witnessing this emergence of a "new" amplitude in my ... well... let's call it "being.".

  looking back on this, it's like those devil possession scenes in films when the beast makes itself known.except - i remind you - it was the real me.i'll give you a few seconds to catch up to what i'm reporting to you.. (pause)okay then.... my interviewer registered awareness of this transformation.the sleepwalking terry vanished.seated in the same chair, the refurbished "me" crackled with personality.. my interior was scrambling; playing catch up.

  Terry, sometimes the mind's short-term memory storage function (think DVR) doesn't work properly for a (usually short) period of time. An extreme example is an Englishman named Clive Wearing. There are several documentaries about him and his condition. Basically, his short-term memory is a continuous 7-second loop.

  More common is a brief episode of say, an hour or two. Someone I know personally had this happen to them, only once as far as I know. When he "came to," he was completely blank about the last few hours. Scared his wife to death! The weird part is that he had been completely functional and apparently normal during the episode. Doctors never did find a definitive cause in his case, but a couple of possible causes are micro-strokes that self-resolve and something called a TIA (transient ischemic attack).

  Something similar happens when someone is administered a "date rape" drug.

  If this happens again, Terry, I strongly recommend that you get it checked out right away. It could save your life.

  I don't think there is anything sinister here. Just a bumbling amateur hour show. But that's what you can expect when you send essentially untrained people knocking on strangers' doors. Sheesh!

  The "brother" was accompanied by a "sister," albeit in the background. They asked for the girl, whose age they might not have known, by name. The man should have immediately identified who he was and that they were JWs. When asked by the parent, he should have immediately revealed how they got the girl's name and why they were calling on her specifically.

  I would hope the man was trying to push the hysterical woman's camera out of his face and it just appeared that he "slapped" her. I would be very surprised if he intentionally stuck her.

  I agree with others here who say the JWs probably came by the girl's name innocently. Most likely, she either lied out of embarrassment or someone set her up as a prank.

  I think this a bunch of nothing, blown way out of proportion, maybe by someone hoping for some kind of settlement (ie., money).

  Geez, guys, making a big deal out of this kind of thing tends to make people take us less seriously when there really is something to expose. "See! It's all apostate-driven lies!"

  I watched the videos with great interest. I have JW relatives in that general area, but none were involved with her situation as far as I know.

  In one video, she says she's gonna post her dad's mug shot, but I never saw it. Does anyone know her dad's name? I'm trying to find any news accounts of the trial or even the trial transcript itself. So far, I haven't found a trace of it except in the videos.

  If anybody has a link to the trial transcript or any detailed account of the trial, I'm sure there of lots of us who'd appreciate your sharing it. Should be interesting reading...
